  SPANISH FORT, AL Edna Louise Harrison Norris, of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away on January 16, 2011. Edna was born on Feb. 16, 1926, in Knoxville, TN, to Professor Thomas Barrett Harrison and Mary Edna Shelley Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tommy. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Homer Stanley "Stan" Norris, their children, Robert Norris (Mascot, TN), William Norris and wife, Jennifer McClain Norris (Fairhope, AL), Jean Yeager and husband, E. Martin Yeager (Houston, TX). Her grandchildren, Kerri Norris Brock and Michael Norris (Knoxville, TN), Thomas Norris and wife, Ashley, (Birmingham, AL), Frank Norris, John Norris, Afan Swan and Walt Swan (Fairhope, AL), Harrison Yeager (Austin, TX), Barrett Yeager and Lawson Yeager (Houston, TX) were her pride and joy. Mrs. Norris graduated in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, where she was editor of the Orange and White newspaper, president of the Panhellenic Council and vice president of Phi Mu sorority. She was a member of several honorary fraternities, including Mortar Board. She was chosen Outstanding Sophomore, a Torchbearer, and was listed in "Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities." Mrs. Norris worked with the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge, TN, before becoming a housewife. As the family moved over the years, Edna kept busy raising their three children, volunteering at the schools, the church and the community. She volunteered her time to help others in any way she could, always putting others’ needs before her own. Known for her infectious laughter, gracious attitude, kindness, and willingness to serve others, Mrs. Norris was the kind of friend everyone wanted to have. Over the years her hobbies included golf, bridge, traveling, garden club, mahjong, photography, and painting. Edna was a member of the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church since moving from Columbia, TN, to the retirement community of Westminster Village in 2004. A memorial service will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral home in Fairhope, AL on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2pm. Rev. Debora Bishop will officiate.
