ROBERTSON LILLIAN, AL Carl T. Robertson, Sr., 91, went home to be with his Lord on April 25, 2011 after a brief illness. Born in Morganfield, Kentucky, he lived mostly in Georgia and Alabama, and was a resident of Lillian the last 24 years. He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Eudena, sister Bess, and his beloved bride of 64 years, Mary. He is survived by three sons Carl Jr. (Cindy) of Scottsboro, AL, Willis (Shelly) of Poquoson, VA, and Paul (Martha) of Griffin, GA; daughter Tina Wellborn (Gary) of Douglasville, GA; younger brother William (Janie) of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. As an electrical engineer and pioneer in computerized air traffic control with the Federal Aviation Agency, he retired in 1975 after 31 years. Carl loved the scriptures, his home church, First Baptist of Lillian, and serving as teacher, mentor, and deacon in his Southern Baptist faith. He was an active amateur radio operator, call sign W4LCK, since the 1940s; as an avid RV camper since 1970, he held offices at national, state and local levels, most recently belonging to the Dixie Ramblers RV Club. He was a life-long Mason, active most recently in Lillian Lodge 925, and also active in the Lillian Optimist Club where he served as a past president. Carl was a caring and giving man, who not only gave financial but also prayerful support to many charitable organizations. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Lillian, Lillian, AL. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Elberta.
