George Chris Mathews

MALBIS, AL George Chris Mathews, age 91, native of Markopoulon, Greece and resident of Malbis, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013. George immigrated from Greece in 1955 and was a member of Malbis Plantation and Malbis Memorial Church. Mr. Mathews had worked for many years at the Malbis Restaurant, as well as the Malbis Bakery and his own restaurant, George’s Café in Mobile. He is survived by three sons, Chris (Danna) Mathews of Tanner Williams, Dimitrios Mathews, Angelo Mathews, both of Malbis; a granddaughter, Alexandria Mathews of Tanner Williams, nieces, nephews and other relatives in Greece. Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5:30-7:00 pm at The Presentation of the Theotokos Malbis Memorial Church. Trisagion service will begin at 7:00 pm.
