Samuel Jay Baker

FAIRHOPE Samuel Jay Baker (Sam) passed away on September 23, 2015. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 28, 1938. Sam and his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama when in his early teens. Sam graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham and later graduated from Auburn University. His chosen career field was in insurance and financial planning and he worked with Travelers Insurance Company in Birmingham and Mobile. He served in Mobile as Agency Manager for a period of approximately 15 years. Sam was very active in the Mobile Association of Life Underwriters and served as president in the early eighties. After Travelers, he opened and operated a very successful independent insurance agency for approximately 22 years. In August of 2007, Sam joined Rockbridge Wealth Management in Daphne, Alabama helping his clients with insurance and investments. During his long career, he has helped thousands of people with their financial planning needs and is considered to be a true professional and friend to all his clients. He was awarded many state and national honors during his long career. Sam loved everyone and everyone loved him. He had a genuine and loving concern for others as evidenced by his large number of friends. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf and tennis, and sailing. Sam was a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church. He resided in the Rock Creek community of Fairhope for the past 18 years. Sam will be missed by many but he is now in the loving arms of Jesus and re-united with his mom and dad and other family and friends. We’re all so blessed to have had Sam in our lives and to witness his love for God.
