Joseph Gillen, Jr.

  GILLEN, JR. DAPHNE, ALABAMA   Joseph R. Gillen, Jr., Age 67 a longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 after a seven year battle with cancer.   Joe was employed with the Bell System for twenty-nine years. He worked in Mobile, Birmingham, Denver and retired in Atlanta as Operation Manager with Alcatal Lucent Cooperation. Joe retired in 1999 when he and his wife moved to Orange Beach, AL. In his retirement years he worked at Paradise Marine and enjoyed  boating, fishing and loved spending time with his  family.   Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Virginia Gillen of twenty-nine years, his children, Joe (Carol) Gillen, Greg (Haley) Gillen and Angela Henson. Joe will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Magen, Madison, Maci, Justice, Emma, Joshua, Erin and Katie; his sister, Helen (Ricky) Emmons and friends.   Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Joseph R. Gillen, Sr. and Helen Hawrys Gillen; sister, Gloria Gillen Akins; brothers, John Gillen, David Gillen and Donald Gillen.   A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at the family residence, 10167 Wexford Lane, Daphne, AL on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
