SPANISH FORT, AL. Virginia W. Galt, 93, died last Saturday, at Westminster Village, Spanish Fort, Alabama. A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, she attended George Washington University, and served as a Laboratory Technician in the U.S. Army during World War II. She and her husband, the late Roy M. Thigpen, moved to Mobile in 1946, and established Thigpen Photography. She was an avid gardener, nature enthusiast, and community activist. She is survived by her five children, Amelia Thigpen Reiheld (Robert), of Edenton, NC, Anne Osborne McLeod (Stephen) of Jackson, MS, Virginia Ward Thigpen of Davis, CA, Alexander Galt Thigpen (Karen Burton) of Spanish Fort, AL, and Elizabeth Thigpen Long (Ricky) of Mobile, AL. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A great granddaughter died previously. Interment was held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, the Rev. Thack Dyson, of Daphne, AL, officiating.
