Theodore Demos Striggles

DAPHNE Theodore Demos Striggles passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Mobile. He was born in Des Moines, IO to Demos and Georgia Striggles, he attended Roosevelt High School and graduated with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering, at the age of nineteen from Iowa State University, Ames, IO. He was also the youngest Boy Scout in the country during his youth. He worked for approximately eight years in Lawrenceburg, IN at Seagrams Distillery. He later moved to Cincinnati to work for Chemical and Industrial Corp as Chief Process Engineer and later as V.P. of sales. His work took him to many foreign countries. Later, he and some co-workers decided to form their own engineering services company called Pedco, Inc. which soon grew to 600 employees. He met Marina Vreteas in the Greek Orthodox Church in Cincinnati, OH and they soon married. After he retired in 1988, they moved to Daphne. He was very active in The Mobile Opera Chorus, The AHEPA organization and in the Greek Orthodox Church. He was preceded in death by son, Philip Striggles. He will be mourned by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marina Striggles of Daphne; two grandchildren, Timothy and Christina Striggles, both of Blanchester, OH; three sisters, Ann Papageorge of Belmont, CA, Olympia Papageorge of Okmulgee, OK and Tassie Preftakes of Mason City, IO and a host of other loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 5-8 pm at The Presentation of Theotokos Malbis Memorial Church. Trisagion service will be begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11 am from the church officiated by Father Elias Stevens and Father James Cleondis. Interment will follow at Malbis Memorial Cemetery.
