FAIRHOPE Louvern Coker Spears passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at her residence in Fairhope, AL. Mrs. Spears was born on April 9, 1923 in Monroe County, AL, the youngest daughter of John and Ida Womack Coker. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope where she taught the Rainbow Sunday School Class for many years. Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Spears in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Spears Welk and her husband, Clifford of Fairhope; her grandchildren, Christopher Vernon (Tammy) Welk of Satsuma, AL, and John Patrick (Lisa) Welk of Mobile, AL; great-grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Welk and Taylor Gray Welk, both of Mobile, AL.; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 1-2 pm to at the First Baptist Church of Fairhope. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm from the church Dr. Jerry Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Rainbow Sunday School Class. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Tonia O'Daniel and Linda Barnes of Mercy Medical Hospice and Marilyn Smith.
