Amanda Leigh Dismukes

Amanda Leigh Dismukes passed away peacefully from cancer on October 10, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, unforgettable adventures, and countless lives touched by her warm and loving spirit.

Amanda had a passion for adventure, travel, and experiencing everything life had to offer. After high school, one of her proudest accomplishments was traveling to Seoul, South Korea, where she taught English and began modeling.

Amanda never met a stranger. She was a beautiful butterfly, a beautiful angel, and a free spirit who brought joy and laughter wherever life took her. Her outgoing personality, infectious charm, and genuine love for people made her truly one of a kind. Amanda could walk into a restaurant, knowing no one and leave with five or six new friends. She had a special gift for connecting with others, and everyone who crossed her path was sure to remember her.

She took great pride in sharing her knowledge, embracing a different culture, and making lasting connections with the people she met.

Amanda also discovered a love and talent for the culinary arts. With creativity, determination, and a passion for bringing her own ideas and recipes to life. Her culinary journey took her to The Occidental in Washington, D.C., Brennan's and Copeland's in New Orleans, the Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe, Top of the Palms in Las Vegas and Restaurant Martin in Santa Fe. She was especially proud of working alongside Chef Rios Martin and creating dishes that reflected her own unique personality and imagination.

Her adventurous spirit carried her around the world. From Istanbul to Greece, Rome, Italy, Venice, and Hawaii, Amanda embraced every opportunity to explore new places, experience different cultures, and meet new people. She lived with curiosity, courage, and a desire to make the most of every moment.

But beyond all her travels and accomplishments, Amanda will be remembered most for her beautiful heart. She had a way of making people feel welcome, important, and loved. Like a butterfly, she brought beauty wherever she landed, and like an angel, she left a little light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Amanda was preceded in death by her father, James House Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Wes and Margaret Morris; her paternal grandmother, Maria Dismukes; and her uncle, Charles Evert III.

She is survived by her loving mother, Angelia House; her brother, James House III; her aunts, Beverly Danner, Debbie Ebert, Courtney Adams, and; her uncle, Billy Morris; her cousins, Chase Ebert, Danielle Igou, Kylin Morris, Kynzi, and Kyliee; her father, Gregg Dismukes; her grandfather, Jack Dismukes; and aunt Rhonda Dismukes, along with other loving family members and countless friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Amanda's life was a beautiful journey filled with adventure, laughter, love, and meaningful connections. Although her journey here on earth has come to an end, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on forever.

Fly high, beautiful butterfly. Your wings have carried you to heaven, but your love and light will remain in our hearts always. 🦋
