Andrea Pattillo, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 82.

Andrea was born March 31, 1942, at St. Joseph’s Infirmary in Atlanta, GA. She grew up in East Atlanta, graduated from Murphy High School in 1960, attended Young Harris Junior College, and graduated from St. Joseph’s Infirmary School of Nursing in 1964. 

She married John Pattillo on September 5, 1964. They had five children, and lived in Tucker, GA. Andrea worked as an RN for 26 years. Following her nursing career, she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s in Anthropology. She was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church, where she played piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served in leadership on numerous committees. 

Following John’s retirement, they moved to Gulf Shores, AL in 2003. In Gulf Shores, she was active in many church and community organizations, where she formed many dear friendships, including Sunday School class, yoga class, book club, birthday club, garden club, Gulf Shores Women’s Club, UMW, and Christian Service Center. Most recently, she was a proud charter member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.

Andrea is survived by her loving husband, John Pattillo of Gulf Shores, AL, and their five children: Jessica (Jamie) Woody of Harrison, AR, Timothy (Robin) Pattillo of Dallas, TX, Matthew (Stacy) Pattillo of Hartsdale, NY, Jeremy (Simone Sands) Pattillo of Pensacola, FL, Susannah (Tim) Emmett of Snellville, GA.  She had fourteen grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Joshua, and Caitlin Woody; Benjamin and Elzie June Pattillo; Abel, Noble and Opal Pattillo; Sarah, Jakob, and Lola Pattillo; Molly and Luke Emmett; one brother Michael (Patti) Hamilton of Fort Mill, SC; as well as nephews Brad and Jeff Kinzey, Christopher and Joshua Hamilton, and other relatives and many friends.    

 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Noble Vinson Hamilton and Ruby Claudine Gilmer Hamilton. 

A celebration of life will be held at Magnolia UMC in Gulf Shores, AL, Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Magnolia UMC.
