Andrew Loudon Chapman passed away in Daphne, Alabama, on July 30, 2025.
He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 3, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Campbell Chapman, and brother, Jerry.
He is survived by his brother, James Chapman, and several nieces and nephews.
Andy moved to Mobile in the ninth grade and attended Murphy High School and the University of Alabama. After graduation, Andy taught school for one year, saved some money, and hitch hiked through Europe for 3 months. After returning from Europe, he moved to California an worked as an animator with Walt Disney.
Returning to Mobile, he decided to become a full-time artist. Andy became well known for his portrait painting and even did one of Hank Aaron. In 1973 he won a statewide contest to paint 25 paintings for the Alabama Park System, and this started him on his barn and bucket period. In the eighties Andy moved to Dallas, bought a Winnebago and started touring and selling his painting art shows all over the U.S. Andy became will known for his dog pictures, along with his landscapes. In the nineties, Andy moved to Orlando where he became an avid tennis player and attended the US Open frequently.
Andy will be greatly missed by his Murphy High School friends, and numerous art friends and clients throughout the country.
