Benny Childress

Benny Childress, age 64, raised in Fairhope (Barnwell), AL and a resident of Pace, FL, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023. Benny was many things, but what he was most known for is being the sweetest soul with the biggest heart. He always made sure that those he loved knew they were loved and had what they needed. Benny stood against many health adversities through the years and always had the strength to push forward. He was the best husband to his loving wife of almost 32 years, a great Dad to his 3 kids and an amazing Paw Paw to all 8 of his grandbabies. He was an AVID Alabama fan, loved fried chicken and had faith like no other. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Rix and Jessie Kate Childress; brothers, John Childress, Walter Childress and Mike Childress; sisters, Grace Wayand and Peggy Nelson. Benny is survived by his wife, Glenda Childress of Pace, FL; daughters, Ashley Porter (Michael) of Navarre, FL and Maggie White (Zack) of Elsanor, AL; son, Christopher Childress (Austin) of Gulf Shores, AL; grandchildren, Keaton, Easton, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Levi, Sloan and Bonnie; sisters, Betty Beadnell (Frank) of Salineville, Ohio, Caroline Parnell of Waynesboro, MS, Susie Green (Billy) of Selma, AL; brothers, Tommy Childress (Betty) of Daphne, AL, Ricky Childress (Nancy) of Stapleton, AL; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends that he loved dearly. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, AL. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, AL. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
