Betty M. McGinnis

Betty M. McGinnis, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the age of 78.

She was born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Walter and Evelyn Moore.

She graduated from Westhampton College at the University of Richmond in 1969 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts.

After graduation she worked with the Bank of Virginia in the newly formed Credit Card group which began her successful career. This led her to New York City working for Citibank and it was there that she met her future husband, Ashley McGinnis. They married 67 days later and enjoyed a happy and loving marriage for 43 years. During that time, they enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. Betty’s favorite places there were Ireland and Italy.

Ashley and Betty started their married life in Minneapolis, Minnesota, then moved to Boston area for 4 years before moving on to Coral Gables Florida. While in Coral Gables Betty worked as a successful Vice President of Tinsley Advertising and made an everlasting friendship with the owner Sandy Tinsley.

In 2005, Ashley and Betty retired in Fairhope Alabama where they found a beautiful place to live.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, A. Ashley McGinnis of Fairhope.

A private graveside service will be held at Colony Cemetery.

To honor Betty’s memory, donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Haven Animal Shelter in Fairhope in light of her love for animals.
