Foley

USAF Major (retired) Bobby Gene Graham, a native of Dos Palos, CA and longtime resident of Foley, AL died Tuesday, April 23, 2024 following a multi-year dementia struggle. 

 

Burial with military honors will take place at Pine Rest Cemetery, Foley on Tuesday, April 30 at 3pm. Family will receive guests from 1:30-2:30pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, 2551 Hwy 59, Foley, AL. 

 

Bob was born in Pomona, CA Aug 25, 1928 to Elsie E Fishbaugh and Lawrence Young “Pete” Graham. He was brother to Edna Loraine “ Pat” Stone of WA as well as the late Lawrence Young “Jiggs” Graham and Elsie Mae Pyne. 

 

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Foley native, Juanita Roberts Graham, daughters Teri G Westbrook and Kathryn A Graham, sons Michael K and Kenneth O Graham; grandsons Christopher, Jason, Logan & Nathaniel; granddaughters Victoria & Brianna; great-grandchildren Ethan, Ronan, and arriving soon, Olivia.

 

Erin Nicole Graham and Matthew Garrett Graham predeceased their Grandpa. 

 

Bob was a graduate of Dos Palos High School and Merced County Community College. He spent more than 20 years serving around the world as a Radio Operator, Crew Airman, KC-95 & 135 Tanker Pilot and SAC Instructor in the US Air Force before retiring in 1970, receiving multiple commendations along the way, including the WW II Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Combat Readiness Medal. 

 

In late 1975 the Graham family relocated to Foley where Bob interacted with many wonderful people while working as Gulf State Park Resort night auditor, Foley Housing Authority Director and City Fire Inspector, finally retiring from a second career as the Foley Building Official, having earned numerous certifications and recognitions. 

 

Outside of work, Bob enjoyed boating, fishing and golf (Gulf Shores Golf Club president), the 100’s Dance Club, Foley Sports, Inc. and Foley Lions Club, as well as the American Legion and VFW. He was a longtime member of the Foley Volunteer Fire Department and CIty of Foley Planning Commission. Bob served as a municipal election official, mentored and consulted on Building & Code projects in various lower Alabama communities, all while traveling with Juanita to associated meetings and reunions. 

 

The Graham family would like to thank friends and family members for their morale-boosting support throughout Bob’s last few years, especially Linda Kiser who has provided invaluable care and assistance. Thank you to the team from Community Hospice for their help, also. 

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob Graham’s memory to the Foley Fire Department, Lion’s Club International, or the Veterans’ charity of your choosing.
