Buford Evan Davis passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, in Metairie, LA, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family.
Buford “Att” was born on September 15, 1932, in Fairhope, AL. Son of Maude (Chick) Hanson Davis Trott and Buford Owen Davis.
He was a graduate of Fairhope High School, where he served as President of Student Council during his senior year and as Student Council Representative during his junior year. He was also a member of the Spanish and Beta Club. He was your all-around athlete, playing football, basketball, baseball, and swimming. He excelled in all and was inducted into the Fairhope High School Hall of Fame. Nickname “The Arm”. He received All-State Honorable Mention for football in 1948 and 1949, with a football scholarship to the University of Alabama.
He married his sweetheart, Jean Carolyn Scott in 1952 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. Once completing his enlistment in the Army, he returned to Fairhope, AL and worked for Bay Towing as a Deck Hand. He later joined Radcliff Materials as a Dispatcher then joined the sales team. Radcliff was later bought out by Southern Industries and Dravo Basic Materials, where he retired as Vice President of Sales. He retired to Gulf Shores, AL. Att was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Eugene Richard Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Jean Carolyn Scott Davis, sons Darrell (Leslie) Davis and Donald Davis, daughters Marcia Cali and Lisa (Russell) Mayfield, grandchildren Dana Cali, Michael Cali, Darrell Davis, Jr., Evan (Ashley) Davis, Mitchell Davis, Meredith Davis, Ashley Mayfield, great granddaughter, Evelyn Davis and brother Richard Davis.
A special thank you to the Fidelis – Tartan staff for the outstanding care and support they provided for both our mom and dad, as well as the Notre Dame Hospice staff.
A Memorial Service to honor Att's life will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 9:00am
