Carole Tanner Wood

Carole Tanner Wood, born on September 4, 1937, in a house on County Road 5 in Petal, Mississippi, peacefully went to heaven on July 10, 2026 in her home in Gulf Shores, Alabama surrounded by her loving family. 

Carole was born into a loving family with three brothers and five sisters, whose bonds remained an important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Bill Wood.

She is survived by her loving children: Michael Higgason and his wife, Kathy Higgason; Amy Murray and her husband, Shon Murray; and Phillip Wood and his wife, Sharon Wood; She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Paden Higgason, Tanner Taylor, and Easton Taylor, who brought her immense pride and joy.

Carole embraced life with grace, kindness, and an unmistakable Southern charm. A true Southern belle, she loved spending time at the beach, making cherished memories with her beloved “Peninsula Gang,” and surrounding herself with family and friends. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Carole will be deeply missed, forever loved, and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral service will be on July 21, 2026 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and service to follow at 11:00 am.
