Catherine Barefield

Mrs. Catherine Barefield a resident of Fort Morgan AL, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023. Catherine was a wonderful mother, sister and wife and friend as well as an exceptional teacher who retired from Lafayette High School after 26 years of helping children with learning disabilities. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University and an avid Tigers fan living in the heart of foreign football country. She enjoyed UL Softball games and The Met. Catherine was a great supporter of the Fort Morgan Civic Association and many environmental groups. Always thoughtful, she was a big thank you note sender until transitioning to the internet and texts with an emphasis on emojis. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Janice Saladin as well as her brother John Saladin. She is survived by her husband, Paul A Barefield of Gulf Shores, Al of 59 years; her daughter, Kirsten Hynson of Baltimore, MD; sons, Quinn (Pam) Barefield of Helena, AL, and Eric Barefield of New Orleans, LA., grandchild Collis (Morgan) Barefield and great grandchild Hadley Kate as well as her sisters in law Ellen Johnson and Francis Saladin and their children Gaines Johnston (Jennifer) and Meredith Clark (Tom), John Saladin (Debbie) and so many other loving relatives and friends. A service will be held at St. Andrew by the Sea in Gulf Shores, AL, on Friday, November 17th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Sierra Club.
