Catherine Reynolds Parker Pittman passed away with grace and fortitude on August 19, 2025 surrounded by her children, family members, and faithful caregivers. “Rennie” was born on February 14, 1939, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the beloved daughter of Catherine Brabner Parker and Henry Prince Parker.

During the War, Rennie, her parents, sister Susan, and brother Jerry lived over the bay at their summer home, the former Historic Battles Wharf Hotel, where Rennie developed her love of the outdoors, the Eastern Shore and Mobile Bay. A graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Rennie was a member of Beta Sigma Chi Sorority and the Murphy High Aquamaids water ballet squad. She went on to attend Stephens College in Missouri and the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

Rennie was deeply devoted to her community and played an active role in numerous civic, charitable, and social organizations throughout her life. She served as President of the Ballet Guild of Birmingham and as Ball Chairman of the Ball of Roses. A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne, she was a co-founder of the St. Paul’s Thrift Shop, which raised vital funds for the church’s ministries and construction of the current chapel. She served on the St. Paul’s altar guild for many years, the Thrift Shop Board, and was a board member of and advocate for the Lighthouse Baldwin Family Violence Shelter.

Rennie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Society, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, and the Magna Carta Society. A committed patroness for civic engagement, Rennie was a lifelong Conservative Republican, member and officer of the Baldwin County Republican Party and Executive Committee, and member of the Eastern Shore Republican Women’s Organization. Rennie served the County as a member of the Baldwin County Board of Equalization, was a founding member of the Baldwin County Junior League Auxiliary, and a longtime member of the Fairhope FaHera Ladies Club, the Lakewood Club, Birmingham Country Club, and Fairhope Yacht Club.

Rennie was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, James Bradford “Jim” Pittman who tragically passed away in a plane crash in 1978 when Rennie was 38 years old. Rennie never dated or married again. If asked why she would simply respond, “why would I be with someone that could never compare to Jim.”

She is survived by her children: Lee Davidson Marbury Pittman III “Trip” (Lynn), Katherine Marbury Pittman Cox (Bill), and James Bradford Pittman Jr. (Caroline). She was a loving grandmother to Reynolds Pittman, Lee Pittman IV, Virginia Pittman, William Cox, Marbury Cox, Susan Pittman, Parker Pittman, and Jim Pittman, and great-grandmother to Penn Pittman.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Montrose Cemetery located at 7325 Sibley Street, Montrose, with reception to follow at the Fairhope Yacht Club at 101 Volanta Avenue, Fairhope, for those who wish to pay their respects.
