Charles Dewayne Black

d. August 28, 2022

Charles Dewayne Black, age 68, a native of Alabama and a resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022. Charles was a dedicated employee of over 25 years to Emerald Coast Produce where he was a truck driver and a warehouse man. He also worked for Ammons and Blackmon Construction Company for over 5 years as a truck driver. Charles was the hardest working man who went on limited sleep many days just to get the job done. He was a dedicated worker. He was a selfless person who would do anything for anyone. He lived a very simple lifestyle. Many referred him to the nickname of “Boogie”. Charles also was a walking miracle. Back in August of 2021, Charles was diagnosed with COVID. The doctors only gave him a 1-5 percent chance of living while he was in ICU. After three weeks of being heavily sedated and bed ridden, Charles lost all of his mobility with the exception of moving his head and his thumb. Through this miracle, he made it out of ICU and eventually ended up in a rehab facility. He left the facility in May of 2022 with a walker. Before he passed, he gained all mobility including walking without any assistance and driving. Charles was a good-hearted Christian man who shared his testimony with anyone he struck up a conversation with. He wanted to let people know God is a miracle worker. He literally lived out the saying “a walking miracle”. He is preceded in death by his parents; Clifford and Thelma Black, brothers; Dennis Black and Tommy Black, sisters; Alice Jerkins and Patsy Shuler. Charles is survived by his wife; Cynthia Tallent Black, his children; Zachary Black, Victoria Le-Ann Romero (Mark), granddaughters; Jaylen Sugarman, Paige Romero, Peyton Romero, sisters; Susan Edington, Nancy Black-Brackins, brothers; Richard Black, Randy Black, Eugene Black, nephews, nieces, and many other loving relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 27409 US HWY 98 DAPHNE, AL (251)625-2900
