Charles Arthur Hershiser

Charles Arthur “Chuck” Hershiser, Jr., 77, a resident of Foley, Alabama, gently passed away at his home surrounded by much loved family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Tuscaloosa, AL April 26, 1948, Chuck grew up in North Carolina and the Middle Tennessee areas. It was at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN where Chuck met his wife to be, Mary Frances Cureton, while both were students there. Chuck graduated with a BS in Business Administration and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and other student organizations. A long and beautiful marriage followed and included a shared love of animals from dogs and cats to horses, hobbies such as skiing and boating, and golf.

Chuck spent many years in the automotive industry working as a general manager for various brands of dealerships, most owned by AutoNation, Inc. Chuck was well respected in the business by the corporation and especially by the people who worked for him. Chuck was known to be well loved, a man who loved his family, possessed of a great sense of humor and knowledgeable in business management skills and the training of his employees. A devout Christian, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Foley, AL.

Preceding him in death were his parents Charles A Hershiser, SR and Barbara H Hershiser-Snoeberger.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 54 years, Mary Frances (Cureton) Hershiser; loving son, Sterling Roth Hershiser; daughter-in-law Marla Jennifer Hershiser; cherished grandsons Jackson Hershiser and Charlie Hershiser; Nephew Michael Cureton; and Nieces Judi Cureton, and Melinda Davis. Along with many longtime friends in the Atlanta, Fairhope, and Foley communities.

A celebration of life is being planned for the near future at his church home, First Baptist Foley, AL.
