Charles Alan Moebes January 4, 1982 – June 24, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Alan Moebes on June 24, 2025, at the age of 43. Charles was born on January 4, 1982, in Decatur, Alabama, and grew up in North Carolina, where he met his soulmate, Tara. Together, they shared a life full of love, adventure, and an unbreakable bond for over 30 years.
Charles served in the United States Army for nearly nine years, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His service took him across the world, including deployments to Afghanistan and South Korea. Whether on the front lines or working behind the scenes, he was respected for his unwavering commitment, his sharp mind, and his ability to lead with integrity and empathy. His many awards were a reflection of the dedication he brought to everything he did, but those who knew him best knew that his true reward was always the chance to help others and make a difference.
Charlie was an engineer, a builder, a mechanic, a designer, and a creator with an extraordinary gift for understanding how things worked, being incredibly resourceful, and solving complex problems. A master carpenter and accomplished craftsman, he had an exceptional eye for detail and a natural talent for both building and fixing anything. Whether it was a home project or
large-scale construction, his hands were his tools, and his work spoke volumes about his skill, precision, and dedication. His passion for learning and creating was limitless, and he constantly sought to innovate and push boundaries. No challenge was too big, no detail too small—he approached everything with the same passion, determination, and curiosity.
Charlie had a rare ability to adapt and master complex systems, combining his understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering with deep knowledge of internet technologies, computer programming, and software development. He was a true renaissance man in the world of modern tech, building custom computers, developing software, and engineering solutions for electrical systems with equal ease. Whether inventing new gadgets, designing unique creations, or repairing the old ones, his technical brilliance was always matched by his boundless creativity, resourcefulness, and artistic talent. He was a true problem solver, and he relished the opportunity to dive into new challenges. He was a creator in every sense of the word, where his innovative thinking was evident in everything he touched. His love for learning and building was limitless, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and help others with their own projects.
Creativity flowed through him in all aspects of his life, whether he was juggling multiple projects or blending technical expertise with artistic flair. Charlie was also an accomplished designer and artist, with a natural talent for drawing, painting, and creating all kinds of beautiful works of art. His artistic abilities were just as impressive as his building and technical skills, and he brought the same meticulous attention to detail and innovative spirit to his artwork as he did to his engineering projects.
Charlie was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in the mountains, hiking trails, and on camping trips. Kayaking and fishing also brought him a sense of calm and fulfillment. His love for nature was a constant in his life, and there were few things he enjoyed more than spending
time in the great outdoors. It was a time for quiet reflection, for adventure, for reconnecting with nature, and cherished quality time with those he loved.
Charlie was supportive, loving, and fiercely protective of his family. He and Tara shared a bond that spanned decades, a deep connection and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Through every high and low, they found strength in each other, weathering life’s challenges side by side. Their love was not only pure and endless but also a constant source of comfort and stability, growing deeper with each passing year. They shared dreams, faced struggles, celebrated victories, and navigated the complexities of life together—always united, always together. His love for his children, Laken and Callie, was boundless. He took great pride in watching them grow, not just in age but in character, intelligence, and strength. He was in awe of their unique personalities, their creativity, and the ways they each developed their own talents and skills. He took pride in seeing them evolve into extraordinary young people, and his heart swelled with love and admiration as they continued to shape their paths in life. He recognized their incredible potential and was always ready to teach and guide them in whatever they were passionate about learning.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Tara; his son, Laken; his daughter, Callie; his father, Dwight Moebes (Kathleen); his brothers, Jason Moebes (Kameron) and Andrew Moebes; as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Moebes, who passed away in 2009.
Charlie’s passing has created a void in this world that can never be filled. His unwavering dedication, sharp intellect, boundless creativity, and deep love for his family and friends have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy of love, innovation, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his life. Though we mourn his absence, the memories he leaves behind will forever be cherished, keeping his spirit alive in each of us.
