Charlie W. Wright, Jr, age 93, a resident of Foley, AL, was born May 15, 1929 in Dickens, TX and passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 He entered the Army / Air Force, in 1948 where he served in Wiesbaden, Germany during the Korean War until 1952 then transferred to Maxwell AFB until 1953. He was a member of the Berlin Airlift. In 1961, Charlie entered the Alabama Army National Guard full-time, retiring in 1989. Charlie was a member of Morgan’s Chapel Methodist Church; the American Legion Post 44, Gulf Shores; Gulf Coast Elks Lodge; Berlin Air Lift Association; Commemorative Air Force, helping to restore old WWII airplanes. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Wright. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Wright, Foley; children, James (Kay) Wright, Charles (Valory) Wright, Patrick Wright, Lois Scarborough and Paul Wright; brothers, Jack Wright, Kenneth Wright; step-son, Woody (Anita) Woodall; grandchildren, Aaron (Crystal) Woodall, Tristan (Leeanna) Woodall, Keenya, Jessica, Stephanie, Jamie, Dylan, Debra and Rance; great-grandchildren, Amelia , Carson, Camden, Charlie, Lily, Hamilton, Caleb, Tamia, Tamya, Lynnleigh and Gabriel; adopted granddaughter, Mikayla; many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 17, 2023 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home Chapel, Foley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Interment will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
