Dan Russ Harris, age 71, of Bay Minette, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, generosity, and a dedication to his family and community. A successful business owner, he proudly operated Harris Remodeling & Contracting in Bay Minette for the past 30 years. Through his craftmanship, integrity, and commitment to serving others, Dan transformed countless homes through his remodeling work while building lasting relationships with his customers, employees, and friends. He leaves the legacy of Harris Remodeling & Contracting in the capable hands of his special friend and business partner, Blake Rotz.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Harris II; his mother, Gloria Clement; his brother, Charles M. Harris III; and his sisters, Catherine "Becky" Nims and Robyn Godwin.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Loretta Harris; his children, Monica Bell (Matthew) and Benjamin Harris (Bex); his stepchildren, Kim Dougherty and Rodney Greer; his cherished grandchildren, Elisabetta "Liz" Bell and Summer Davis; his brother, Arthur Newman Harris (JoAnn); his sisters-in-law, Kim Harris, Pat Mitchell, and Patricia Mitchell; his brothers-in-law, Roger Nims, James Mitchell, and Donald Mitchell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and the entire Harris Remodeling & Contracting family, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Dan will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, willingness to help others, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His love for his family, his pride in his work, and the friendships he built throughout his life will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
