Daniel Walter Balzli

Daniel Walter Balzli Jr, age 88, of Daphne Alabama passed away Friday November 10th, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Danny was born in Mobile, Alabama to Daniel and Marguerite Balzli. He was a graduate of McGill Institute and later studied Engineering and graduated from Auburn University before ultimately settling in Daphne, Alabama with his spouse of 60 years, Ruth Hearn Balzli. He worked on the space shuttle in the 1960’s, followed by a 30+ year career at International Paper Company. Danny was known for his quiet strength, unwavering goodness and dedication to his faith and family. He enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, going out for flame broiled oysters and of course rooting for his alma mater, the Auburn Tigers. Happiest when making others happy, his home repairs for friends and family were absolute perfection and he built every house where his family ever lived. Danny loved helping his children with any endeavor and dancing with his wife. To know Danny was to love him. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dorothy Ford. He is survived by; his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth, his two children Kelly S. Balzli of Atlanta, Georgia and Mark Daniel Balzli and husband Jeffrey Hearne of Miami Beach, Florida, and one grandson Aidan Carey Balzli of Jacksonville, Florida. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory two siblings Marcele Wong, and Robert Balzli and wife Ellen, and numerous nieces and nephews and a loving brother and sister in-law Charles and Carrol Mills. The family will receive friends at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, Alabama on Saturday, November 18th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45am and a luncheon to follow at 1:00pm.
