Duane Russell Whitmyer

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Duane Russell Whitmyer, age 75, a resident of Lillian, AL. He was born in Owosso, MI and lived in the Mid- Michigan area until he retired from General Motors. Duane went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Duane was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an U. S. Army Veteran who served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of LASAR (Lower Alabama Search and Rescue), a member of the Optimist Club, American Legion, Spanish Cove Bible Study and was active in Civic Organizations. He was a loving husband to his wife Kathyrn Whitmyer of 53 years, a devoted father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents, Richard, and Rita Whitmyer; grandson, Chase Rinna; sister, Joyce Whitmyer; brother Max Whitmyer

He is survived by his wife, Kathyrn Whitmyer of Lillian, AL; son, Steve Whitmyer; daughter Cynthia (Jonathan) Ramos of Elberta, AL; and son Wesley Whitmyer of Elberta, AL, his 11 grandchildren Emma Whitmyer, Ashley Whitmyer, Timothy Ramos, Ruth Rinna, Christopher Ramos, Samuel Rinna, Megan Whitmyer, Mary Whitmyer, Joshua Rinna, Richard Whitmyer; two sisters, Marjorie Whitmyer and Phyllis Whitmyer, and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Eternal Life Service will be at The Lillian Methodist Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00AM.
