David (Dave) Wayne Morgan,83, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on March 29, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished stepfather, Dave lived a life shaped by talent, curiosity, and unwavering dedication to the people and passions he held dear.
A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Dave earned his degree in music performance, a foundation that shaped his lifelong love of music. In the 1960s, he toured as a trumpet player with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, sharing his artistry with audiences across the country.
Dave was also a gifted professional golfer whose discipline, patience, and quiet determination defined his approach to the game. He served as a PGA golf professional at Lakewood Golf Club for 13 years before retiring. It was during his time on the Florida Senior Golf Tour that he met the love of his life, his wife, Elizabeth.
Beyond music and golf, Dave brought his steady presence and problem‑solving skills to his work as a trusted hotel fixer for Marriott Hotels. He also found great joy in woodworking, creating lasting pieces that reflected his care and craftsmanship.
Dave is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan, a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps; his parents, Faith and Wayne Morgan; and his brother, Stephen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his stepsons, Greg Barnes and Scott Barnes; and his brother, Max Morgan.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and integrity—one that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Dave will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Dave will be interned at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
