David Michael Ward

David Michael "Mike" Ward passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 77.

Mike was a graduate of Fairhope High School and served in the Merchant Marines. His career was marked by his service at the Alabama State Docks, McDuffie Coal Terminal as a supervisor of coal handling, and at the family business, Oriental Imports. Mike loved his trips to Mexico, Alabama beaches, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and cooking.  His kindhearted and giving nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him, as he often went above and beyond to help those in need.

Mike is survived by his loving family, including his son, Michael (Leah) Ward, his daughter, Kathryn (Bradley) Jennings, his brother, James (Lauri) Ward, Jr, and sister-in-law, Linda Ward.  He is also mourned by his long-time friend and caregiver, Penny Keahey.   Jimmy, Linda, and Penny were a constant source of encouragement and support.  He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, who Mike was immensely proud.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Ward, his son, Michael Krickel, and his brother, Daniel Ward. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved them.

Mike's legacy of kindness and generosity will be forever remembered.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 23 at the Montrose Cemetery, 7325 Sibley Street, Montrose, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Community Hospice. https://communityhospiceal.org/about-us/foundation/
