David Wenke

David J. Wenke of Baldwin County, AL passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Born January 30, 1952, in Olean, NY, he was the son of the late Paul and Geraldine Corson Wenke. 

A 1970 graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy until 1974. Following his military service, David embarked on a career in advertising at The Olean Times Herald. He later relocated to Fairhope, AL, where he continued his career in advertising.

David's greatest joy in life came from his role as a devoted father and grandfather. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan and avid animal lover, he found happiness in watching sports, spending time outdoors, and listening to music. He was the happiest when spending time with his family and his cherished dogs.

David is survived by his loving children, Nichole (Bradley) Pennell, Christie (Claiborne) Janey, Lindsay Wenke, and Bradley Wenke; his grandchildren, Molly, Lauren, and Ethan Pennell, and Caroline and Henry Janey; his brother Paul Wenke Jr, sister Margaret “Peg” (Steven) Bergstrom; and brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Magnuson; and his former wife, Kathryn Wenke, with whom he remained close.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Anne Magnuson.

A memorial service to honor David's life will be held in Olean, NY, at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of your choice.
