Dean Froment Jones
Dean Froment Jones, 67, passed away peacefully at home following an unexpected diagnosis of an aggressive and rare cancer just days prior. He was born May 2, 1959, in Montrose, Alabama. Dean was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, remembered for his gentle spirit, joyful attitude, and extraordinarily generous heart.
The youngest of five brothers, Dean loved being surrounded by people from an early age. His childhood was filled with playing on the beach near his home and fishing trips. He attended Fairhope High School, where he was a member of the Athletic Club and Hall of Fame. He graduated from Auburn University in 1983, playing football his freshman year and becoming the heavyweight boxing champion his senior year.
After graduation, Dean moved to Long Beach, where he spent the remainder of his life. He worked in the import and export business before building his own family-oriented company, American Carpet Cleaning, which continues to thrive serving the Los Angeles and Orange County communities. Following his father’s footsteps, Dean became a pilot. Though he never flew commercially, he found great joy in owning a personal plane and taking others to soar the skies. He frequently flew to Catalina Island, where he enjoyed spotting buffalo and hiking the trails. When he wasn’t in the air, he could be found on his boat, cruising Naples Canals and taking friends to dinner. Dean’s greatest joy was people. He treated friends, employees, business partners, neighbors, and technicians with the same warmth and kindness. He was known for his generosity, often showing up at a neighbor’s door with soup or flowers “just because.” Through Angel Flight, he volunteered his time and piloted cancer patients to treatment.
Dean loved the Lord and was a member of Seacoast Grace Church for more than 20 years where he was actively involved in the men’s ministry in recent years.
He is survived by his daughter, Lauren; grandsons, Wells and Silas, with a third grandson on the way; and brothers, Todd and Miles Jones of Alabama.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Seacoast Grace Church in Cypress, California. A reception with light refreshments will follow. As Dean would say, “the more the merrier.” Children are welcome.
