Dennis Hamilton, 85, of Fairhope passed away on June 11, 2026 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Dennis was born and raised in Staten Island, NY, the son of Bernard and Winifred Hamilton. It was also where he met and later married the love of his life, Arlene. They were married for 62 wonderful years.
After high school graduation, Dennis served three years in the US Army and was stationed in France and Germany.
Dennis and Arlene later moved with their three children to Connecticut, where they spent the majority of their years together. Dennis is survived by his son Dennis Jr and his partner Sharon; his son Brian and his wife Roseann; and his daughter Patricia and her husband Eron Lefebvre. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Kimberly, Jessica, Nicole, Matthew, Quincy, Jenna and Nina.
Dennis is also survived by his younger brother, Bernard “Buddy” Hamilton and his niece Christine and nephew Peter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Krysta; and his grandson, Alexander.
Dennis’ career as an executive in the ocean transport / shipping industry provided him with the opportunity to travel to major ports all over the world, including Mobile, Alabama. He and Arlene fell in love with nearby Fairhope, where they retired and met many of their closest and dearest friends.
Dennis was an avid hunter, golfer and skier. He and Arlene traveled extensively around all fifty states. He loved road trips.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope at 9:30 a.m. Dennis will be laid to rest at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort at 11:00 a.m.
