Donald Stephen Holyfield

Donald Stephen Holyfield, aged 52, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed peacefully in his sleep

on the afternoon of April 6, 2024. He was transported to Thomas Hospital but could not

be revived. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Born on May 2, 1971, in Mobile, Alabama, to Doris and Gavin Holyfield, Donnie was a

fountain of generosity and joy to those around him. During his time with us, he

overflowed with curiosity, made friends without measure, and mastered the art of

openness and love - welcoming any and all to the warmth of his attention.

After graduating from Murphy High School and earning a degree in Finance from the

University of South Alabama, Donnie set forth on a path that would see him become a

beloved figure in both his personal and professional circles. In 2000, alongside his twin

brother Ronnie, he founded The Holyfield Company. For nearly 25 years, Donnie and

Ronnie have tirelessly steered the real estate & appraisal firm through numerous ups

and downs, upholding steadily to their deeply shared values of excellence, integrity, and

family.

Donnie was a man of many interests. He loved polo, photography, music, the art of his

nieces, the accomplishments of his peers, the cooking of his husband, and the life best

lived around a table. Above all, he cherished the joy of making new friends, celebrating

life's milestones, and sharing stories about his children. His move to Fairhope in 2003

brought new adventures and friendships, enriching his and Robert's lives.

Donnie is survived by his husband, Robert Lusk; his sons, Stephen, Robert, and William

Holyfield; his daughters, Hannah, and Ele Lusk, Hayden Ivey and her husband Stetson;

his twin brother, Ronnie Holyfield; and his sister, Audra Tuite and her husband Mickey.

In light of Donnie's unexpected passing, the family has decided to keep a period of

private mourning, ensuring that Robert, Ronnie, and all of Donnie’s children have time to

process their sudden loss. However, you can certainly expect an absolutely raucous

celebration of life to be announced soon or in the coming months. At that time, we will

be inviting friends, family, and all those touched by Donnie's expansive spirit to share

memories and honor his legacy together, as he would have wanted.

The family extends heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support and condolences

received during this difficult time. To all those who carry a fragment of Donnie's indelible

spirit with them, to those he inspired to embrace life more fully, to love more deeply, or

to pursue the extraordinary within the ordinary—our family urges you to cherish and

share these gifts. Let his example inspire you to sow seeds of kindness, bravery,

connection, and wonder. In doing so, we honor a remarkable man who has left a riot of

generosity and unwavering support for all in his wake.
