Donald Edward Savell, age 66, of Foley went home to his Heavenly Father on February 3, 2026.
Donny was born in Mobile, Alabama on March 3, 1959 to Fred and Grace Savell.
Donny attended B.C. Rain High School and Foley High School where he graduated as a part of the class of 1978.
He married Darlene Tillman on February 16, 1979, and together they had 4 daughters, Julie, Melissa, Nichole, and Connie.
He worked as a carpenter for Phillips Frame & Truss for 10 years and then at BF Goodrich (Rohr) for 15 years. He always worked at perfecting his carpenter trade. He loved building and creating Middle Bay Lighthouse replicas and other wood pieces after he retired.
Donny never, ever met a stranger. He loved working on his woodworking projects and keeping his hands busy, coaching his girls' softball teams and always showing up for any activity they were involved in. He loved Alabama football and Hawaiian shirts. But his favorite role of all was being "Grandad". He treasured his time with his grandbabies and loved them so much. Never failing to be their friend with no boundaries.
Donny is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Darlene; daughters, Julie (David) Moore, Melissa (Chris) Bourne, Nichole (Kevin) Sanders, Connie (Michael) Weekley; 9 grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kameron, Kinsley, Jr, Kaylen, Aliyah, Aiden, Aubree, and Evan; 1 great grandson Jack; siblings Fred, Bobby (Alesia), Tracy (Suzanne), Janet (Ricky). As well as loved in-laws, other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were like family.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Fred and Grace Savell.
A wake will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11am at Vernant Park Baptist Church in Foley.
In honor of Donny, casual attire is welcome, as he loved Hawaiian shirts and Alabama football.
Flowers are graciously accepted along with any donations to help the family with arrangements.
And as Donny would say, "ROLL TIDE BABY!!
