Donna Joan Bruington Dowden

Donna Bruington Dowden, 91, passed away in Fairhope Alabama at the age of 91.

Born on April 11, 1935, in Galesburg, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of Mary Louise and Everett Bruington. Donna was a proud graduate of Galesburg High School and Monmouth College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill, and her husband John. Donna is survived by her children Nancy of Leesburg, Virginia; Steve (Kristie) of Fairhope, Alabama; and Sally of Chicago, Illinois; along with her grandchildren Ellie (Davis); Tyler (Lanie) and Marina (Aman) and cherished great‑granddaughters.

Donna lived a life shaped by curiosity, creativity, and connection. A ferocious reader, she left this world with a stack of books still waiting to be opened. Earlier in life she volunteered as a drama coach, served on her local library board, and worked as a schoolteacher before devoting herself to motherhood.

She loved the water, loved to travel. Donna treasured being surrounded by friends and family, and her warmth, wit, and spirited presence made her a joy to know and impossible to forget.

Her legacy lives on in the people she loved the communities she enriched, and the countless stories and memories she leaves behind.
