Donna Elizabeth Miller

August 7, 1940 - May 27, 2025

Donna Elizabeth (Rabon) Miller is survived by her four children: Kerry M. Kier (Terry Gartman), John “Bo” Cumbie (Machelle Cumbie), Gary “Gene” E. Kier and Amy Marie K. McKnight (Bob McKnight); siblings, Elizabeth Ann McCutcheon, John Matthew Rabon and Tom Medders along with 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Mae Miller, and father, John Rabon. Donna was raised in Greenville, AL and moved to Fairhope, AL during high school.

Donna was a strong, adventurous, and passionate woman with a fondness for homemade vanilla ice cream, root beer floats, traveling, the ballet and music--from the Mobile Symphony to Elvis Presley and “Ave Maria”. One of the highlights of her life was traveling to the Holy Land.

A talented decorator, Donna filled her beautiful home with art, books and crossword puzzles, which she solved daily. She loved old movies and musicals and could recall the names of the writer, director and actors. She often shared stories and memories of her childhood in Greenville with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite stories was about her two grandmothers boarding a train, each bringing her a homemade cake for her birthday.

Donna worked for many years in the commercial and residential lighting industry, earning a reputation for excellence and meticulous care with contractors. At home, she took great pride in homemaking, especially in making “icicle” pickles every summer and her famous strawberry fig jam.

She was the anchor for family gatherings and always had a bed ready for her children and grandchildren staying the night. She was strong, witty and direct-- she was never shy telling you “Like it is”. The nurses and aides at the nursing home where she lived notes that she maintained her sense of humor until the very end.

Donna loved Alabama Football and Paul “Bear” Bryant, old trains and bridges, Mardi Gras, and the Kentucky Derby. Above all, she loved Jesus and family. She leaves behind a lasting legacy and has touched the hearts of all who knew her.

A private family memorial will be held to honor her memory.
