Dorothy Marie Bruhn

BRUHN ELBERTA, AL Dorothy Marie Deiss Bruhn, 87, a resident of Elberta passed away Monday, December 26, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Mary Deiss; her husband, Vernon Albert Bruhn, and a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Bruhn. She is survived by her children, Karen (Ken) Zacharias, Michael (Octavia) Bruhn all of Elberta, AL; grandchildren, Naomi Bruhn Armendariz, Amanda Bruhn Borders, JoyAnne Bruhn Lozano, Benjamin Bruhn, Nathan, Joshua , Matthew, Kimberly and Elisabeth Zacharias; seven great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Dorothy Marie Deiss Bruhn was born in Burton, Texas on March 20, 1935, to Arnold and Mary Deiss. She married Vernon Bruhn of Elberta, AL in 1955 and moved to Elberta. She worked at the State Bank of Elberta, South Baldwin Bank, First Alabama Bank and Regions Bank eventually becoming Vice President and Operations Officer at the Robertsdale branch before retiring in 2000. Dorothy and Vernon were instrumental in the beginning of Berean Baptist Church. She taught various Sunday School classes and sang in the choir, as well as, serving as church clerk and assistant treasurer. She had two children, Michael and Karen, and enjoyed being a grandma and great grandma. Funeral services will be held at Berean Baptist Church in Elberta, Monday, January 2, 2023 at 11:00am The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
