Dr. Blaine C. Crum, III

Dr. Blaine Crum III, native of Hampton, Virginia passed on April 3, 2023, after a short illness. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Blaine Crum Jr. and Mercedes Crum; his brother, David Stewart Crum and his sister, Alma Jean Piggins. Blaine is survived by his wife, Lynda, three sons, Blaine IV (Stephanie), Jarrett (Susan), Geoffrey (Gwen) and nine grandchildren, Steven Scott (Shelby), Conner, Aiden, Blaine Caroline, Caleb, Chloe, Noah, Sara Beth Norton (Patrick) and Whitaker Deas and three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews; brothers, Larry Crum (Kathy) and Dr. Christopher Crum (Tucker). Dr. Crum was an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of South Alabama from 1968-2001. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Old Dominion University in 1962 and Master of Psychology in 1964 and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1967. He provided leadership in the field of Clinical Psychology with the Mobile and Alabama Psychological Associations. He was appointed by The Governor to serve 5 years on the Alabama State Board of Examiners in Psychology. He served as a regional consultant to the Alabama Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and he served as a consultant to the Poarch Creek Tribal Community. Additionally, he served 50 years as a clinical consultant to provide mental health services for the State Prison facilities in Atmore, AL. Blaine worked with the Cub Scout Troop and coached Little League baseball. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mobile, Alabama. He will be remembered for his humor and commitment to teaching and mentoring students and always encouraging them to develop their potential to the utmost. He was also a member of a Mobile Mystic Organization. Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, 2023, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, from 5:00 until 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at the funeral home, Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Cemetery.
