Edwin Goddard Cowdin III

Edwin G. Cowdin III, age 88, a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away on June 14, 2024. 

 Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Sarah Moore Cowdin and Edwin G. Cowdin, Jr. and stepmother, Agnes Cowdin. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha A. Cowdin.

Edwin G. Cowdin was born in San Antonio, Texas December 19, 1935. He attended school in San Antonio and joined the US Navy where he served for ten years. He was assigned to five Navy Carriers, the USS Midway, USS Ranger, USS Forrestal, USS Hornet, and the USS Roosevelt. He was stationed in California, Cuba, Texas, Jacksonville, and Pensacola, FL. He enjoyed his military years and had many great memories.

 After discharge from the Navy, he moved to Elberta, AL. He worked as a General Foreman for the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF), Naval Air Station, Pensacola for the next 20 years. After his retirement from NARF, he opened TriState Auto Sales and enjoyed selling cars for the next 25 years.  Edwin was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Elberta and loved his Lord, his church and his country. His hobbies included boating, fishing, shrimping, hunting, and he enjoyed the area in which he lived and felt it such a privilege to live in this beautiful area.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Lay Cemetery in Elberta, Alabama.
