Elaine Evans Glover, a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on August 30, 2025, following a brief illness.
A celebration of her long and full life will be held on October 21, 2025, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Daphne, Alabama. Interment will follow later that day at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
Elaine was born on October 19, 1934, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Elizabeth and Darcy Evans. She grew up in Pocomoke City, Maryland and after graduating from high school, chose to pursue nursing. She became a registered nurse in 1955 and embarked on an accomplished career that began as a pediatric staff nurse in Norfolk, Virginia, and concluded with her retirement in 1991 as Nurse Manager of the Rehabilitation Units at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond.
In 1974 Elaine married her beloved Frank Glover and they shared thirty-four happy years together. Upon retirement, Elaine and Frank explored the Atlantic coast from Hilton Head to Fort Lauderdale, and the Gulf coast from Naples to Pass Christian, in search of the perfect place to call home. In 1993 they settled in Daphne, Alabama.
Elaine embraced her new community with the same passion she had for nursing. While living in Lake Forest she joined the Lake Forest Garden Club, serving a term as president. She found joy in her work with the "cooking committee" at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, especially because of the friendships she formed there. She also volunteered at St. Paul's Thrift Shop and served several terms on the Board of Directors. Elaine loved being a part of St. Paul's warm congregation. After moving to Westminster Village in 2015, Elaine served on several resident governance committees and especially enjoyed planning Wednesday vespers for the Westminster residents.
Elaine had a gift for making and keeping friends from all walks of life. She could share stories and memories for hours, but she was equally a thoughtful listener and, above all, an encourager.
Elaine took great pleasure in celebrating all holidays, reading good books, sharing good food with friends, and attending Mobile Symphony Orchestra concerts. She travelled extensively throughout her life and created detailed journals and scrapbooks chronicling her adventures.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, and her daughter, Julia Ellen Hancock. She is survived by her sister, Carole Evans. Elaine's memory will be cherished by those she loved like family: Elyse Evans Young (Grant), Ross Evans (Tara), Dale and Olan Evans, newborn William Young, and soon-to-be-born Abby Evans.
