Eleanor Harrod Brown

Eleanor H. Brown, 72 years old, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026. Eleanor was born on February 28, 1953 to Florence P. and G. Clellan Harrod. She built an independent life rooted in resilience and self-reliance. Her faith in God and the Catholic church remained with her to the end of her life.

She had a deep love for nature and organic gardening, and found great joy in working in her yard. Tending to her plants and nurturing the earth brought her peace and purpose. Those who knew her supported her as much as she would allow, admired her personal strength, determination, and the way she carved out a life on her own terms.

While she valued her independence and often preferred solitude, Eleanor remained meaningfully connected to those closest to her. She shared a special bond with her niece, who had a unique relationship with her and was a steady presence in her life later on. She also appreciated the kindness and generosity of friends and her neighbors, who offered friendship and support when she welcomed company.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, infant daughter, and dearest lifelong friend. She is survived by her three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. She will be remembered by those closest to her for her determination, her love of the outdoors, and the strength that defined her life. She lived with many challenges, but beneath those struggles was a very sweet soul who loved Our Lady and found wonder in God’s creation.

Where there was distance, may there now be peace. And may all who knew her be assured of the love she carried for you in her heart.

A funeral mass will be said at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

The family will have a private burial in Brook-Cedron Cemetery.
