Eleanor Ruth Thomason

Eleanor Ruth Pair Thomason of Fairhope died peacefully at her home on May 23, 2024.  She recently celebrated her 90^th birthday in January in her very favorite way, surrounded by her family.  

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Thomason, with whom she would have celebrated 72 years of marriage on June 8; her children, Tony Thomason (Michelle), Andy Thomason (Donna) and Doug Thomason (Gussie); grandchildren, Spenser Thomason (Holly), Eva Clark (Nick), Nick Thomason and Henry Thomason; great grandchildren, Cora and Cru Thomason.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Pair and Ruthie Idell Pair, and her brothers, Melvin Pair and James Anthony Pair.

Eleanor lived a life of steadfast faith in Jesus Christ.  She put her faith into action by participating in numerous mission trips, teaching Sunday School, and serving in women’s ministries for many years, as well as co-founding, along with her husband, the international mission organization, Transforming Leaders in Asia, which remains very active today training pastors and helping to build churches in Northeast India. Her church families were very important to her, including Shades Mountain Baptist, Brookwood Baptist, and First Baptist in Birmingham, along with First Baptist in Fairhope.  As believers, we are all comforted to know that she is in the loving arms of her Savior today and forever.

For those who wish to help celebrate her wonderful life, the family will greet friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm with a memorial service to follow beginning at 3:00pm.  Interment will be at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to TLA Ministries at TLAUSA.org.  

The family wishes to thank Dr. Andy Dukes and Dr. Michael Pursley and their staff, along with Enhabit Home Health and Community Hospice for their loving care of Eleanor before and during her last days.  We also thank Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope for their kindness in helping the family with the arrangements during this difficult time.
