Elizabeth Greene Ivy

Elizabeth Greene Ivy of Fairhope passed away in her sleep at home on May 31, 2025, at the age of 99.

She had been a Fairhope resident for 25 years. Betty was born in Montclair, New Jersey to Joseph and Neva Greene of Nanuet, NY.

She graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts in 1948, a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She later earned a master’s degree in English from the University of Albany.

Betty spent her working career teaching French and English in Brunswick, Maine and Deerfield, Illinois.

She married Robert H. Ivy, Jr (who predeceased her) in 1950. They had three children who survive her: Robert of Essex, New York; Cynthia of Rapid River, Michigan; and Peter of Hastings on Hudson, New York. She has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.
