Elizabeth Purvis

Elizabeth “Lisa” Stewart Purvis, age 71, a longtime resident of Foley and Magnolia Springs, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, July 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Lisa Purvis attended Foley schools through the 11th grade and was in the first coed graduating class at Marion Military Institute in 1971, while also attending Judson College. She later attended the University of Alabama.

During her husband John’s time in the Air Force and in the aircraft industry, they were stationed in San Antonio, Texas, Niceville and Milton, Florida, and Warner Robins, Georgia, before returning to Magnolia Springs where they raised their three children.

Lisa was a longtime employee of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, where she worked for almost 40 years in the patient appointment scheduling department.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt, and will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Anne Stewart, and her son, Benjamin Purvis. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Purvis; one son, John (Melanie) Purvis, Jr. of Foley; one daughter, Dr. Courtney (Don) Taylor of Terry, Mississippi; one granddaughter, Brooklyn Purvis; one grandson, Grant Purvis; two brothers: Jim (Camille) Stewart, Jr. of Foley and Clark (Patti) Stewart of Magnolia Springs, along with many other relatives and friends.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
