Eric Galerne Obituary
Eric Hervé Galerne was born on April 28,1959, in Paris, France, to Jeannine and André Galerne. He passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at his home in Fort Morgan, Alabama.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Annie, Olivier, and Lionel. He is survived by his beloved wife of nine years, Ingrid; his children, Natalie and Philip; and his grandson, Darren.
Eric was known for his generosity, sharp intellect, and sense of humor. He was very kind and loved helping people with his problem-solving skills. He was a well-respected and valued member of his community and will be remembered for his handyman work, helping property owners and management agents with both large renovations and small maintenance jobs. His business, Beach Handyman LLC, which he shared with his wife, Ingrid, made him an irreplaceable member of the community and brought him great joy and purpose in his later years.
Prior to moving to Fort Morgan, Eric spent most of his life working in deep-sea construction. He was deeply fascinated by the sea, as was his Family. He dedicated his professional career to advancing the offshore oil and gas industry, where his expertise and work ethic earned the respect of those around him. He had a strong passion for learning and acquiring new skills, including computer technology, mechanics, and engineering.
Eric was an avid car enthusiast who spent many years collecting and racing American sports cars. His remarkable performance in the Dodge Viper Cup race-series in the early 2010s helped cement the Dodge Viper’s lasting legacy as one of America’s quintessential modern supercars. For Eric, the Viper was more than just a race car; it was the purest expression of his competitive spirit and love for an uncompromising, analog driving experience.
Eric cherished his family and loved life on Alabama’s white-sand beaches. His warm and welcoming personality brought smiles and laughs everywhere he went. He was an excellent story-teller and loved to recount exciting stories about his career, and racing years, that often contained well-placed comedic relief.
He will be dearly missed and cherished forever.
