Erlene Matson

Erlene Matson, born Feb 18, 1938, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 14, 2025.

Erlene is survived by her husband, Delano Matson of 32 years; her daughter, Ashley (James) Buckley of Semmes, AL; grandson, Tyler Fleming of Semmes, AL.; a step-daughter, Kimberly (David) Hirras of Pensacola, FL; step-son, Randy Matson of Gulf Shores, AL; and step-grandchildren, Julia Flores, Britney (Ryan) Gerke, Roger (Denise) Boggan, and Alaina Hirras; her siblings, Ernest (Mary) Sikes, and Euby (Tannis) Sikes. Her grand and great-grand kids were devoted to her.

Erlene was preceded in death by her first husband, William E. Downey; son, Marcus Downey; grand-daughter Kayla Downey; Father, George W. Sikes and Mother, Vernell Rigney Sikes; sister, Lenell Jordan) and brother, George Aaron Sikes, and her daughter-in-law, Elaine Matson.

Erlene was a member of Anchor Point Church in Foley, AL where she was very faithful in serving the Lord. She was a friend to many of whom was blessed by her faith and love for the Lord. She will be deeply missed by her family that she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held at Anchor Point Church on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:00am.

The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior for Visitation.

Interment will be held in Spring Hill Memorial Gardens in Mobile, AL. at 3:00pm.
