Fairhope

Esther Louise Reynolds was born April 9, 1937, to John E Reynolds Sr & Esther Via McCraney Reynolds in Canton, Mississippi, she was called home in the early morning of the 26th of May 2024 free at last.

Services will be held at 10 AM on the 30th of May 2024, at Harvest Fields Church Summerdale, AL. Followed by a celebration of Life at the Bone and Barrel at 2:00 on Fairhope Ave. Alabama.

Esther was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, Mimi, and friend to many. Esther was the baby of her family. At age 12 she moved to Memphis, TN to be raised by her sister, Anne Murphy after her mother passed. She was a student in the Memphis school system, where she met and married her husband of 56 years, husband Norman F. Ackermann Sr, they had 5 children: Terry Shawn Ackermann, Vicki Gayle Ackermann, Mark Steven Ackermann, Lisa Ackermann Martin (Michael Martin) and Norman Ackermann, Jr; 13 grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild that will be born any time now.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Norman Ackermann Sr, and her parents, John & Esther Via Reynolds, grandparents, and 3 children, Terry Shawn Ackermann, Mark Steven Ackermann, and Vicky Gayle Ackermann; sisters: Lucy Gates (Brown Gates) Anne Murphy, Gladys Whitaker (George, Sr.) brothers: James, William, John Jr, and Herbert Lee, and 6 other siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. And just a few months ago her best friend of 44 years, Bernadette Wycoff unexpectedly beat her to their Heavenly home.

She is survived by daughter Lisa Martin (Michael), and son Norman Ackermann, Jr. numerous grandchildren, and many many friends.

Esther lived in Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. In her later years, she obtained her degree in Hospitality. After her husband passed, she felt that Fairhope was where she wanted to grow old. The love of the ocean and sand between her toes was calling her. She bought a home in 2019 and in 2023 she was diagnosed with an incurable cancer, she was only given a few months, but Esther fought a heck of a fight proving doctors wrong, she almost saw another year celebrating Christmas, another valentine’s dance, her 87th Birthday, Easter, and Mother’s Day, Esther loved her family and friends dearly.

Esther was a beautiful lady, with a big heart, a little naughty and nice, at times a force to be reckoned with, but loved by many. I am sure she was greeted with an abundance of family and friends and knowing Esther had some new dance moves to teach them. What a Heavenly party it will be! Thank you to the nurses and therapist that came into her home for the last several weeks. A special thank you to The Retreat at SAAD Hospice for providing a beautiful, tranquil environment as she transcended to her heavenly home.
