December 3, 1936 – May 3, 2026
Frances (Fran) C. Sute, 90, formerly of Foley, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, after a brief illness.
She was born in Detroit, MI, to Matthew and Margaret Sute. She was a younger sister to the late James and the late Paul, and older sister to the late Joan (Galant) and Barbara (Glenn).
She graduated from Nativity High School in Detroit and worked for Michigan Bell briefly after graduation.
Fran’s next chapter took place in Adrian, MI, when she entered the convent of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. She worked her way through postulancy and being a novice to become a nun, and she served in that capacity for several years.
Eventually, Fran returned to a lay state and moved to the Gulf Coast, where her parents had retired. She lived for a while in Fairhope, where she managed the VFW and played dominoes competitively. She eventually moved to Foley, where she lived for the remainder of her life. During her time in Foley, Fran served in several capacities: a teacher at St. Benedict’s Catholic School, school bus driver, and care-taker for her father until his death.
Fran enjoyed painting and calligraphy. She was a long-time member of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Church, serving in various volunteer roles. She was also a volunteer at South Baldwin Hospital.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Glenn, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10:00 until 10:30am at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Margarets of Scotland Catholic Church at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at immediately after the service at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley, in Fran’s memory.
