It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Franklin Levi Buzbee, a man whose life was marked by dedication, service, and an enduring commitment to the betterment of his community. Born on April 18, 1949, in Mobile, Alabama, Franklin’s journey began in the heart of the South, where he cultivated the values and work ethic that would define his distinguished career. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama.
A proud graduate of Fairhope High School, Class of 1967, Franklin embarked on a path that would lead him to play an instrumental role in the development and operation of the Spanish Fort Water System. His expertise and unwavering dedication to ensuring access to clean and reliable water were hallmarks of his professional life. Later, moving closer to his beloved sister, he continued his vocation at Alabama Rural Water, where his contributions sustained and enriched the lives of countless individuals.
Franklin’s presence was a beacon of strength and kindness, qualities cherished by those who knew him. His family was central to his world, and he was deeply treasured by his loving sister, Sylvia Dunn and her husband Jeffrey; his devoted brother, Donald Buzbee, alongside his wife Rebecca; as well as his cherished niece, Janey Brand, and nephews Joey Smitherman with his wife Emily, Justin Smitherman with his wife Baylie, Gavin Buzbee with his wife Alicia, and Morgan Buzbee with his wife Jessica. The laughter and light of his great nieces and nephews—Brylie, Briggs, and Jace—also brought joy to his days.
Franklin was predeceased by his devoted parents, Frank and Thelma Buzbee, whose memory remained a guiding force throughout his life. His passing on May 16, 2026, in Montgomery, Alabama, marks the end of a luminous chapter filled with accomplishment and heartfelt connections.
Those wishing to pay their respects may attend the visitation to be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home - Daphne Chapel, located at 27409 U.S. 98, Daphne, Alabama, 36526, on May 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 10:00 AM.
He will be laid to rest at Wilson Cemetery in Spanish Fort, immediately after the funeral service.
