Obituary

Gary Lee Jones, 76, of Elberta, Alabama, passed away on October 11, 2026. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and proud patriot who will be remembered for his humor, his love of family, and his many interests.

Gary proudly served his country, spending time in both the United States Army and the United States Coast Guard. Following his military service, he worked as an electrician until his retirement. His love for his country and his interest in its history remained important parts of his life.

Gary enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special to him. He loved working on cars, browsing yard sales, attending gun shows, and traveling. He was an avid reader who enjoyed history and watching war documentaries. Gary was a natural conversationalist with a comical personality and always had something to talk about or a story to share. His humor and love of conversation made him memorable to those who knew him.

Above all, Gary loved his family. He leaves behind many memories that will be cherished for years to come, along with the laughter, stories, and moments that made him who he was.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Jeanette Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Jones; his son, Brad Jones (Nikki); his daughters, Dana Knight (Jeff) and Renae Hill (David); and his brother, Vern Jones (Carrie). He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, located at 2551 S. McKenzie Street, Foley, Alabama 36535. The family will gather at 9:30 a.m., visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service details will be announced at a later time.

Gary’s life was defined by service to his country, devotion to his family, and a personality that brought humor and conversation wherever he went. Though he will be greatly missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
