George H. Bragg, Jr., of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away on August 14, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by his family.

George was born on February 26, 1943, in Greenville, Mississippi, to George H. Bragg, Sr. and Eugenia Halpin Bragg. He spent much of his life in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he graduated from St. Aloysius High School. George continued his education at Mississippi State University, earning a master’s degree in civil engineering. He later lived in Jackson, Mississippi, before eventually making his home in Orange Beach, Alabama.

George put his education and talents to work during a long and rewarding career as a civil engineer with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi, retiring after many years of service. Engineering was well suited to George’s natural curiosity, his keen mind, and his lifelong interest in understanding how things worked.

George was full of humor and fun and enjoyed sharing both with the people around him. He valued time spent with family and friends and brought his sense of humor and enjoyment of life to those gatherings. He had many interests throughout his life, including computers and technology, genealogy, photography, camping, and boating. He also treasured the companionship of his beloved Sheltie, Henry.

George believed in giving his time and talents to the communities in which he lived. Over the years, he was a devoted member of and contributor to several civic and community organizations, forming friendships and serving others along the way. He was active with the Exchange Club of Jackson, was a member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), served as Treasurer on the Board of Phoenix on the Bay, and served on the Keep the Reservoir Beautiful board.

Family was at the heart of George’s life. He shared many years with Brenda Bragg, and together they raised their two sons, Martin and David, building a family that remained a source of great love and pride throughout his life. After Brenda’s passing in 1998, George was fortunate to find love again with Susan Bragg. Together, George and Susan shared a loving marriage filled with family, friendship, laughter, and many happy memories.

George is survived by his wife, Susan Bragg; his sons, Martin R. Bragg and his wife, Tammy L. Bragg, of Brandon, Mississippi, and David A. Bragg and his wife, Morgan Bragg, of Madison, Mississippi; and his four grandsons, Christopher A. Bragg, Carter A. Bragg, Tyler Bragg, and Tate Bragg. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Kelly Hall and her husband, John Hall; Ivie Rivers and her husband, Jason; Michael Williams and his wife Shelley; his brother, Michael Bragg and his wife, Donna Bragg; and his niece and nephew, Zan Hathaway and Jeremy Bragg. George was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Bragg, Sr. and Eugenia Halpin Bragg, and by his first wife and the mother of his sons, Brenda Bragg.

From his Mississippi roots to his later years on the Alabama Gulf Coast, George built a life centered on family, friendship, curiosity, service, and fun. He will be remembered for his humor, his many interests, his devotion to the people and communities that mattered to him, and the enjoyment he found in sharing life with those around him.

George leaves behind a family who loved him dearly, many friends who shared in his laughter and adventures, and a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring both smiles and comfort to those who knew and loved him.
