George Anthony Johnston

Cherished Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather George A Johnston known more as "Tony"  passed away in his home in Daphne, Alabama surrounded by his devoted and loving family on February 4th, 2026. George was the son of Letha Marie Nezat and George Everett Johnston born on January 4th, 1947 in Bakersfield, California. 

Tony was a carpenter and built everything from houses, apartment complexes to hotels during his career. There was not much that he could not do if anything at all in construction. Tony passed on his skills to many of his brother-in-law's, nephews and sons. He was always the one everyone would call for advise on how to build or repair something. When he retired, Tony owned and maintained a boat marina and a campground in Bristol, Tennessee. Tony enjoyed spending free time with his family camping, fishing or helping with projects. 

Tony leaves behind his loving wife Mary Louise Johnston; four children, George A Johnston Jr., Cheryl Pollard, Tony L. Johnston and Charles E. Johnston (Kristy); ten grandchildren, Amber Johnston Flannagan (Thomas) Nicole Johnston, Krystal Russel, Toni Hoffer, Angel Johnston, James Johnston, Kylie Johnston Duncan ( Chance) Baylee Wheeler and Bryson Wheeler; eight great grandchildren, Kaylyn Flannagan, Gunner Flannagan, Dallas Posadas, Haven Davis, Jasmine Davis, Rylan Huffman, Charlotte Huffman and Marlowe Duncan. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm for friends and family to visit, with a service following starting at 2:00pm.  Services will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral home at 27409 US Hwy 98, Daphne, AL 36526.
